I’m about halfway through this book; it’s pretty funny/odd to hear a White guy comment on ahjuma culture. I like how he and his mother-in-law are best friends post-deli: http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/15/now-reading-my-korean-deli/?smid=tw-nytimesdining&seid=auto
So far my favorite part of the book is his description of his father-in-law, a HVAC repairman who loves to belt out Korean opera/folk music and practice by recording it on his own portable tape recorder/karaoke combo. I’m also about half-way through David Brooks’ new book, The Social Animal. It’s a pretty fun/interesting read although some of the parts related to education are a bit ehhh.
