cleveland

I went up to Case Western this weekend to host a film showing of the documentary “Sa-i-gu.” Also facilitated a discussion about the film with students afterwards…a little surreal talking about the LA Riots with students who were barely born in 1992.

(side note: we had a surprisingly [?] hard time locating a vcr to show the movie…evidently they’ve been eradicated from the planet)

I haven’t been up to Cleveland for awhile so it was nice to be there.  Joyce’s friend Julia Kuo, a very talented artist (she’s the illustrator on this recent release, Clara Lee and the Apple Pie Dream), is logging 100 days of the city on her blog: http://juliaincleveland.tumblr.com/

And speaking of artists, NYTimes did a feature on Shaun Tan, whose work I’m just getting to know…wonderful stuff: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/24/magazine/mag-24Tan-t.html?hpw  I just ordered a copy of The Arrival.
